Use the survey to capture site facts

A window-cleaning site survey records the agreed areas, access arrangements, observed site conditions and questions that must be resolved before work. It supports quoting and crew preparation. It is not a high-rise work plan, hazard assessment certification or authorization to work at height.

Confirm what is included

Walk the agreed areas with the authorized contact and keep interior, exterior and periodic work distinct.

• Property, survey date, contact and service scope.
• Window groups identified by building, elevation or room.
• Relevant counts and special features that affect the agreed work.
• Existing visible damage, with permission-based photo references.
• Exclusions and unanswered questions requiring confirmation.

Record access and preparation details

Give the crew enough context to plan equipment through the company’s approved method.

• Authorized entrance, parking, unloading and occupied hours.
• Permitted water access and storage arrangements.
• Restricted areas, pedestrians and other site activities observed.
• Equipment requirements and quantities after the work method is approved.
• Area overview photos and a clear label for each detail photo.

Escalate work-method and safety questions

Record unresolved access, overhead, ground-condition or work-at-height concerns for a qualified supervisor. High-rise work requires a competent, site-specific process beyond this checklist. Use current company procedures and the OSHA/IWCA resources linked below. Do not treat a completed survey or a stored weather reading as a safety decision.

Prepare the recurring record

Once scope and method are approved, put standing arrival and preparation instructions with the site. Illustrative example: “North frontage is excluded from this visit pending access review. Contact the supervisor before adding it to the work scope.” Update the record after the first visit when actual site conditions reveal a missing detail.
