Connect the standard method to the actual site

A standard operating procedure describes a repeatable method. Site instructions add the location-specific details needed to use it: the correct room, approved access route, available equipment and agreed restrictions. A crew needs both before starting.

Write an SOP a worker can follow

Give the procedure a descriptive name and state when it applies. Define the expected result, preparation, work sequence and how to handle an exception. Have the person responsible for the work review it before the crew uses it.

  • Purpose and scope: which work this procedure covers.
  • Preparation: training, equipment and site information to review.
  • Sequence: clear steps in the order they are performed.
  • Exceptions: when to stop and who to contact.
  • Review information: responsible person and the last review date recorded in the text.

Keep site differences out of vague instructions

“Use the usual entrance” depends on memory. “Use the east service entrance; reception issues the badge” can be acted on. Put the stable site variation in the job description and keep the reusable method consistent across relevant jobs.

Attach reusable SOPs in SiteSight

SiteSight lets teams maintain SOPs and attach them to jobs. Keep review dates and any change notes in your own procedure text. The product does not offer document approval workflows, read receipts or version-controlled compliance records.

Keep this knowledge with the site

SiteSight keeps job descriptions, equipment, hazards, SOPs, notes and photos in a shared company workspace. Give the returning crew the context you have already captured.
